Signs Signs for advertising ARE NOT PERMITTED per OP City Ordinance 18.440 on any city right-of-way. You can contact OP City 895-6270 and they will remove advertising signs. Political and real estate signs can be placed on private property without a permit. Signs are not allowed in the right-of-way, which is typically an area including 11 feet from the back of a street curb. The right-of-way includes the sidewalk (do not place signs between the sidewalk and the curb). Real Estate signs may be placed in berm area with permission. The real estate company/representative must contact Home Association for permission to place sign on berm area. Solicitors Per OP City Ordinance 5.64, solicitors are not permitted. Per City and and OP Police, placing “NO SOLICITORS” signs at our NPHA entrances does not work. Overland Park “No Solicitors" signs, which site the City Ordinance, should be posted at your residence. These signs can be picked up at OP City Hall, 8500 Sante Fe in old Overland Park. You can also call 913-895-6000 and they will mail you sign. If you have the city provided signs and have an unwanted solicitor knock at your door, you can call OP Police, non-emergency number 913-895-6300 and they will come out and either give solicitor warning or ticket if resident files complaint.
